Thanks, Natalie! I am familiar with that other kind of word bank--I call mine the "overflow" document and I keep one for almost everything I write. I'm glad you found my obsessive techniques useful!
It's true! The notebook situation in my house is . . . intense. I order packs of 10 Decomposition notebooks at a time. I also steal them from my children, because they never seem to fill any of the spiral notebooks that we buy at the beginning of the school year. Good luck!
I recently started a separate notebook for quotes, previously I just put them in goodreads reviews but now I appreciate having both digital and analog records. I also love the idea of having a words notebook! I'm not a writer but I think these tips will make me a more thoughtful reader which I appreciate so thank you for writing
Ariana, that makes me so happy! I only recently started identifying as a writer, and I still think the world needs readers more than writers, tbh. Thank you for reading and commenting!
"How we spend our time shapes who we are"—and your post beautifully illustrates this truth, Sarah! Your insights have inspired me to elevate my reading habits.
Now, if only I could remember where I left my book... :)
Thank you. Very good. I just keep a list of books I have read in a cheap journal. I have quotes from books in another journal. I have some journals that just focus on a particular author. I have several journals. I read and my house is full of books. I am not a writer but I love to read about writing. I enjoy Substacks.
So many seriously useful tips. I keep a Substack sentence bank for the parts I cut out or don’t fit to use later but it’s mostly emotional lol.

I'm going to need a few more notebooks!

The Decomposition notebooks are my favorite! And buying them gives me a good excuse to be in my favorite indie bookstore. :) Happy reading!

Thank you so much! If you don't find the one you were reading, I recommend starting another book!
