I just finished Dear Life this week. Was surprised by Katie’s early characterization of Munro as hard on men—I’ve found just the opposite to be true. But I’ve only read three of her books of stories so far. Fun interview!
Oh yes, to be clear, when I had that impression about Munro’s male character I was 14 or 15 and really just had my very kind father, grandfather, and uncles as a reference point. I didn’t have the intellectual scope for Munro’s messier men at that time. Now I do!
