Ummmmm. How dare you tease with this list and then not post it????
I aspire to this level of reading/organization of said reading-- but if we’re honest, it’s never going to happen. Sometimes I stop an audiobook because the language is too beautiful not to see on the page, and sometimes a book is so luscious, I’ll read for a limited number of minutes before bed just to make it last longer. Sometimes I read a paragraph until it is etched on my soul, because perfectly turned phrases occasionally deserve exactly that treatment. Right? Or am I too romantic about words?
Oh dear, I’m sorry you felt teased! The list is coming; I’m just late. I know what you mean about the listening vs reading experience. Sometimes I switch to visually reading when a book is so beautifully written that I want to see it (case in point: Actress by Enright). On rare occasions I have read and listened simultaneously, but that hasn’t happened since I blazed through the Dublin murder mysteries by Tana French. I’ll post my list posthaste! It just takes a while to assemble my thoughts.
Haha, so glad you agree! I will have to look out for The Wager. After reading my post, my dad started signing his emails “the daddiest of all American dads.”
I've never finished TAW either, but I return to it often for inspiration. And when I'm stuck, morning pages always works! Thanks for the other interesting news, too! Lauren Groff opening a bookstore in G'vlle, where I went to school? I didn't know!

Dads love Lincoln Highway so much, lol. I'm already guessing his next years pick is going to be The Wager.
Also, I loved Lincoln Highway too :)

I chuckled out loud at this comment. Also, the moment I saw JFK by Frederik Logevall, you can bet that I googled that book for my dad.
I've struggled to make reading a priority for the last six years, but your lists are changing my tune. I'm excited to make 2024 my return to reading!
Yay! When he showed me his list this year, my dad was quick to point out that it contained no Lincolns or Kennedies. I’m pretty sure it’s a fluke.
